FAQs

  • What is Padel Tennis?

Padel, sometimes called Padel Tennis, is a racket sport of Mexican origin, typically played in doubles on an enclosed court slightly smaller than a doubles tennis court. Although Padel shares the same scoring system as tennis, the rules, strokes, and technique are different.

  • Is Padel easier than Tennis?

Is Padel tennis easier than tennis?

Padel is easier to play and learn than tennis because less physical strength and technical capacities are demanded and there is a fantastic combination between your brain, challenged to its limits and your body that has to move a lot, but not necessarily as accurately as in tennis.

  • What equipment do I need?

Playing equipment in padel, as in tennis or squash, are balls and rackets. However, these are slightly different. Visually, the balls look like tennis balls. However, their internal pressure is somewhat lower in order to prevent the ball from bouncing too much

  • When will it be ready?

Building work started in October 2023 to create the foundations and access/parking for the new venue.

    PROVISIONAL TIMELINE:

    • Oct23 - Concrete pour for foundations
    • Jan24 - Construction of outer building
    • Feb24 - Concrete pour for floor and complete outer building
    • Mar24 - Padel Court installation
    • Mar24 - Early Bird membership details released
    • Apr24 - OPEN
  • Will you offer coaching?

Yes we will.  Beginner to Expert coaching will be available for all.

  • Will you offer a membership scheme?

Yes we will but we will not be an exclusive members only club.

Visitors and guests will always be welcome although there will be some great benefits to becoming a member with us too!

  • Do I need a booking 'app'?

    NO!

More details nearer the time, but we have decided to work with a fantastic booking provider that works perfectly well on your computer or phone without needing to download anything!

Designed (and used) by a current Padel & Squash player, we think its the best functional booking system around.

  • Will you offer a corporate membership scheme?

Yes we will.  Details of this will be released with all the membership options before we open.

  • Do I have to join?

No.  A Pay & Play option will be available for those who wish to pay ad hoc, or indeed try for the first time.

But becoming a member wil give some great benefits, not only for the Padel Club, but also the other facilities and services at Far Peak.

  • Will there be competitions?

Almost certainly yes!  We intend to operate as most clubs and offer a range of leagues and tournaments throughout the season.

But it may be a little while before we introduce this to the offer, while we find our feet and make sure everyone and everything is heading in the right direction.

  • What about Juniors?

Juniors will be welcome at Cotswold Padel Club.  We will be offering a junior membership as well as coaching and lessons.

Details will be released with the main membership schemes.

  • Will there be a maximum number of members?

    Unfortuntely yes.

With only two indoor courts planned, we will be capping our membership.

BUT we intend to always offer a Pay & Play option for slots that are still available, so everyone gets the chance to play Padel!
